bill-seatedWe have started the third month of 2009 and our federal government has started a stimulus package that we all hope will turn this country around. I believe it will take all of us in the little things that we do to make this happen. I believe all of us working together will make this a great country just like it has been and will be!
For those who have not noticed the large animal barn at the fairgrounds should be completed by the time this newspaper gets out and the show arena should be completed by the end of March also.
In February City Council met with County Commissioners and some County Council in a special meeting to authorize proceeding with the exhibit hall. As these projects move forward we hope that the fairgrounds will be completed by time for the 4-H Fair or at least a major portion of it. I do command the task force that’s been working on this project and all of the county and city elected officials working together to complete this project. This does show that when local elected officials work together there is nothing that we can’t accomplish.
Also, by the time this paper gets out part of the bills coming out of the Statehouse should start sizing up to what we have to look forward to from our state government. Every year there are some bills that we pay particularly close attention to, the same is true for this year. I hope to have more up-to-date information for you on certain bills that are being addressed by the next time the Community News comes out
I was hoping to give you an update on the State Road 56 bridge that possibly might be in the stimulus package but not all information on this has come out. More of this could be in the Ohio County newspapers within the next month or so or by the time you are reading this.
As always I ask everybody to keep our men and women in the armed services in their prayers and ask God to watch over our great community and this great country.

Mayor Bill Marksberry
