Dagaz Acres Challenge Course

Welcome to Dagaz Acres Leadership Center and Zip-line Adventure Course, the tri-state’s new locale to build your team while ‘being green’.
Dagaz Acres Leadership Center and Zip-line Adventure Course Founders Patrick and Lori Noonan had a dream to combine their 20 years experience in corporate training, team building and personal development with their love for all things outdoors. The result? A beautiful, 23-acre outdoor adventure course and leadership center that promises this: Whether with a few friends or a large group, you will “arrive as individuals and leave as a team.”
“Our love for the outdoors and a strong background in educating and motivating people to action inspired our family to start a business that offers an exhilarating outdoor adventure – an adventure that allows our guests to let go of their daily stress and commune with nature,” said the Noonan’s”.
Dagaz Acres Leadership Center’s “Challenge Course” and “Zipline Adventure Course” were professionally designed and built by Cornerstone Designs, Inc. of Pineola, NC, a leader in building ropes courses and canopy tours. Both Cornerstone Designs and Dagaz Acres staff are licensed and accredited through the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT – www.acctinfo.org). Dagaz Acres staff ensures each participant’s safety, excitement and personal growth!
The Challenge Course, targeting everything from small non-profit groups to large corporate outings, includes ten elements: zig zag, whale watch, trust fall, high wall, spider web, four-way traffic stop, islands, Mohawk Walk, trolley and track walk. The Zip-line Adventure Course, catering to individuals, groups, novice “zippers” and extreme-sport enthusiasts alike, includes: five dual zip-lines covering ½ mile, two canopy zip-lines and one Burma Bridge.
Dagaz Acres Leadership Center challenges participants through a series of group activities customized for their outing. The challenge course includes a variety of portable and permanent initiatives that provide a learning environment for building trust, communication, competence, leadership, problem solving, collaboration and other such skills.
“The activities are fun and exciting, but the effectiveness lies in the “process of the activity,” according to the Noonan’s. “The point of the element is the initiative (problem) to be solved and the way the individual and/or group choose to solve the problem. Each participant is responsible to be an active member of the group, to give support both physically and emotionally, and to ensure the safety of all members of the group,” explained Patrick Noonan, a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
According to the article “A History of Challenge Courses,” posted on the ACCT website, ropes courses were used for military training both in the U.S. and Great Britain possibly as early as the mid-1930s. The article’s author, Mark Wagstaff, Ph.D., states, “Challenge course use for educational and recreational purposes found its way into American culture through the Outward Bound School system…the first (Outward Bound School) opened in Marble, Col., in 1962.” Today, it is believed that over 15,000 courses operate in the United States alone.
From managers looking for corporate team-building, to school groups, church groups and families wanting to get outdoors and bond, the Dagaz Acres Leadership Center and Zipline Adventure Course is the perfect retreat.

Dagaz Acres Zip-line Adventures

Looking for an extreme thrill in the great outdoors? The new Dagaz Acres Leadership Center and Zip-line Adventure Course is a first of its kind in the tri-state. Dagaz Acres’ state-of-the-art zip-line offers an eco-adventure along with an adrenaline rush for both novice and master “zippers” alike.
A zip-line consists of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on an incline. They are designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to traverse from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable, usually made of stainless steel, by holding on or attaching to the freely moving pulley. At Dagaz Acres, the zip-lines traverse from trees to platforms to other trees, zipping through the air at up to 35 miles an hour on the area’s first enviro-thrill ride.
The adventure at Dagaz Acres begins with a climb to the treetops of Southeastern Indiana and continues over scenic valleys and ravines in a way you’ve never experienced before. Strapped safely in a secure body harness, you’ll soar high above the forest floor. The adventure course* includes:
•Five dual zip-lines covering ½ mile on 23 acres
•Two canopy zip-lines and a Burma Bridge
•Multi-element high ropes challenge course
•Comfortable and secure ½ body swing harness
Participants must weigh a between 60 to 250 pounds and be 10 years old for zip-lines.
Dagaz Acres’ Zip-line Adventure Course was professionally designed and built by Cornerstone Designs, Inc. of Pineola, NC, a leader in building ropes courses and canopy tours. Both Cornerstone Designs and Dagaz Acres are members of the Association for Challenge Course Technology.
According to Cornerstone Designs Owner Jim Wall, the Dagaz Acres Zipline Adventure Course is an eco-adventure unlike most others. “A lot of (courses) are not all in canopies (i.e.: trees). A lot are on fields or towers. The unique part of Dagaz Acres is they are using the beautiful terrain to develop a system among the trees where you are able to go from station to station underneath the canopy or see the wildlife underneath the canopy and be up close to the trees.”
While zip-line use by the general public is not new – civilian ropes courses have been in the U.S. since the 1970s and used by the military prior to that – the high thrill-to-skill ratio has created a modest global boom of zip-lines.
Owners Patrick and Lori Noonan share their reason for building Dagaz Acres: “Our love for the outdoors and a strong background in educating and motivating people to action inspired our family to start a business that offers an exhilarating outdoor adventure – an adventure that allows our guests to let go of their daily stress and commune with nature. Whether alone or with a group of friends, you’ll return to the ‘real’ world with fresh perspectives and incentives.
Dagaz Acres staff is licensed and accredited with over 20 years experience in team building and personal development. Founder Patrick Noonan is a specialist in corporate training and carries that expertise and love for all things outdoors to the adventure course every day. The staff ensures each participant’s safety, excitement and personal growth!
