The City of Rising Sun was recognized as the newest Tree City USA in the State of Indiana. Pam Louks of the Indiana DNR was present at the Arbor Day celebration on Sunday April 25 and awarded us the plaque and a flag which will proudly fly over our community.

The City of Rising Sun has hosted the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) Leadership Conference for 4 years now and Rising Sun will be hosting it again this year July 15 thru 17. These IACT members are government officials from around the State of Indiana.
We are also planning to have an Art Exhibit during the conference which features local artists. The theme of the exhibit is “Everyone Counts – Census Awareness 2010”. This will not only promote the upcoming Census but also the artists in our community.
The legislature is winding down and I should have more information about some of the legislation and its impact on our community, beneficial and otherwise, for next month’s issue.
I also should have moire information about the status of State Road 56 construction at the Laughery Creek bridge then as well.
As always I ask everybody to keep our men and women in the armed services in their prayers and ask God to watch over our great community and this great country.
