Kelly Miller Circus Makes a Visit to Rising Sun

The Kelly Miller Circus returned to Rising Sun on April 29 with two family-friendly shows that thrilled everyone with amazing acrobatics and aerial tricks.  This was the third time the circus came to Rising Sun as a fundraiser for the Ohio County Historical Society.  The day began as the sun peeked over the hills of Kentucky.  Trucks rumble into town heading for River Front Park and within two hours the big top was raised and the circus was ready to go.

Over 800 people attended the circus to see elephants, horses, and new this year tigers.  The tigers were the first act.  Just like any cat that you can get to do something they do it with a complaint by snarling.  If you like clowns and slapstick two entertaining clowns performed several skits in between acts.  Always entertaining is the little windup elephant skit.  The elephant is a little dog in an elephant costume.

A new act this year was a motorcycle on the highwire with an acrobat below.  Of particular daring was when the motorcyclist made the motorcycle and acrobat revolve around in a 360 degree circle.  This is good entertainment and watching how efficient the crew is at putting up and taking down the circus in one-day is simply amazing.

The Circus was sponsored by MainSource Bank.
