Ohio County Public Library Director Cynthia Schmid-Perry is in negotiations to host author Kerry Madden during the week of March 15-19, 2010, date to be determined soon.  Kerry Madden’s most recent book is Up Close: Harper Lee.  Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book To Kill a Mockingbird will be 50 years old in 2010.  OCPL would like to encourage a county-wide read of ‘Mockingbird’ in the spring.  We are looking to partner with any other local groups who may be interested.

It is understood that one of the high school classes reads it each year.  Kerry Madden will be available to give a daytime presentation to students on writing and an evening lecture to adults.  She can also talk about Harper Lee and ‘Mockingbird’.

The OCPL encourages you to begin to plan to join Ms. Madden and us next March and to pass this information along to anyone you think will be interested.
