Matthew Becker Completes Eagle Scout Service Project for Library

Matthew Becker, the son of Ronald and Chris Becker, has completed his Eagle Scout Service project by completing a beautiful podium and book shelves for the front counter of the Ohio County Public Library.  The furniture, made of cherry donated by Dave Scharf of Aurora, was constructed after Matt had asked the previous library director Amy Ketzer what her needs were.  Matt with assistance from others completed the projects and presented them to current library director Cynthia Schmid Perry last week.

This past spring, Matt and his troop earned the “Fifty Miler” for backpacking the Smoky Mountains.  Matt in the past has canoed the Au Sable River of Michigan, attended the Philmont Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico, and the National Jamboree in Virginia.  After High School, Matt hopes to continue working with the scouts as an adult volunteer.

Library Director Scmid Perry invites you to stop by the Ohio County Public Library not only to see the new cherry wood furniture, but also to find out what new and exciting worlds there are available to explore at the OCPL.
