Rising Sun Life Squad Members Gathering Names of Past members

ambulance5Two members of the Rising Sun Life Squad are working on a project to gather the names of all the past members of the squad. Such a list, dating back to 1957, pre-dates the establishment of Emergency medical Services in the United States by almost 15 years. The universal symbol of EMS, the “Star of LIfe” wasn’t even created until 1977, so years after Rising Sun Life Squad made its first run as a life-saving organization.

Terry Grove and Mike Peters have been poring over old records, meeting minutes, and other documents trying to find out those names. They have also talked with other members in the community who no longer are active with the squad.

Mike and Terry are also interested in “firsts” for the squad, including who was the first baby delivered by them.

Terry Grove and Mike Peters are asking that anyone with information to share about the history of the squad, especially names of past members, contact them at 438-3100 or 438-2853.
