Rural Route 2 bluegrass band made their appearance Saturday night August 6 for their part in Summer Serenades, a series of musical concerts to be held on the riverfront thsi summer.  Rural Route 2 is made up of Gary Eldridge (mandolin) and Greg Griffin (banjo) of Rising Sun, Bruce Murray (guitar) of Dewberry, Olivia Smiley (fiddle) of Greensburg, and John Wise (bass) of Milan.  John also provided the sound set-up for the evening.

rr2-2
The band is a staple of bluegrass get-togethers in southeastern Indiana with appearances at the monthly 4-H Fairgrounds bluegrass shows in Madison, the annual Versailles State Park Bluegrass Show, to the annual “One More Bluegrass Show” in Milan.

The band played some old bluegrass standards like “Somehow Tonight” and Blue Ridge Cabin Home”, some modern adaptations such as “Silver Medals and Sweet Memories” and some original material such as “Distant Town” written by Gary L. Eldridge.
