Vevay Announces 39th Annual Swiss Wine Festival

Named one of “Indiana’s Top Ten Festivals”, the 39th Annual Swiss Wine Festival takes place Aug. 27-29, 2010 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park located off Ferry St. in Vevay, IN.

Along with food, arts & crafts, midway rides, fireworks, parades, live entertainment, beer garden and riverboat cruises, the affair showcases contests and events throughout the three-day event. Canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions, steintossen, basketball jamborees, a poker run and a road rally are just a few of the activities held during the event.

The 2010 edition of the Midwest Championship Grape Stomp welcomes individual and group competitors to test their toe-squishing talents against friends and neighbors. Creative grape stomping costumes are welcome, and judging will take place on authenticity and enthusiasm. The overall winner will receive a prize and all participates become members of the “Order of the Purple Foot.”

A Media Celebrity Grape Stomp for Charity will take place on Sat. Aug. 28th at noon, and will feature
on-air personalities from television and radio, along with newspaper/magazine writers and professional bloggers from Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Madison, Louisville and Vevay.

The Wine Pavilion is a Swiss Wine Festival trademark, with many of Indiana’s award-winning wineries offering signature renditions in samples, glass or bottle. Producers are on hand to “talk wine” and share their fruit of the vine story with others.

Admission to the Swiss Wine Festival is $3 on Aug. 27-29. A child 5-12 is $1 per day and ages 4 and under FREE. Admission to the Wine Tasting Pavilion is $13.00 or two for $25 per day and includes a souvenir etched wine glass.

Festival times are 3:00pm-2:00am on Fri.; 10:30am-2:00am on Sat.; and 10:30am-6:30pm on Sun.
