Market Place Time has rolled around again for our annual Market Place.  This year it will be held at Heritage Hall on Main Street.  If you have handmade items or antiques to sell and would like a booth space or more information, contact Lois 812-438-4915. There will be wood working, dolls, baskets, and much more.  The museum will have their booth of homemade cookies, candies, and gift items.  Best of all our homemade lunch will be available.

Operating Model Train Exhibit The rumble of the electric trains will fill the museum with music of the railroad.  The Ohio County Historical Society’s collection of model trains (N-scale, HO-scale, O-scale, and G-scale) will be in full operation on November 27 through December 29 during museum hours.  This year the layout will be relocated from the main museum to the Education Gallery (back space of the museum).  According to museum director, Bill Dichtl “This allows us the opportunity to expand the layout and have more flexibility.”
The train exhibit is the museum’s most popular exhibit each year.  Most of us have a fascination with trains and enjoy watching the scale models travel through tunnels and towns.  Each year something new is added.  This year one of the new features is a boxcar with a robber and sheriff having a shoot out.
There is always a need for volunteers to help operate the trains during the season.  If you have an interest to volunteer for this or anything else give Bill a call at 812-438-4915.  The Historical Society is also interested in adding to the collection of trains and accessories so before you get rid of your old trains give us a call and donate them.  December 11, 2009, 6:00 p.m.A Very Merry Literary Christmas Dinner Program Historically, Christmas is a time for friends, family, and congenial strangers to gather to hear tales. Journey with master storyteller Sharon Kirk Clifton as she leads you through meager, scantily furnished lodgings, into a magical forest, or beside an empty manger.  some of the stories in this collection may have a familiar ring to them, others could be new to listeners, but all share one element: they are based on literary tales.  You will not hear a recitation, however, as Sharon skillfully translates literary language into oral language.
Cost of the dinner program is $12.00 for members and $15.00 for nonmembers. Program only (7:30) is $4.00 for members and $5.00 for nonmembers. Registration deadline is December 10.
